Rosemary Brownlee

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Rosemary Billingsley Brownlee, 87 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday March 8th at 11a.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Ron Allen will officiate and interment will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Brownlee's family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Brownlee died Tuesday morning March 4, 2014 at NHC HealthCare Center in Cookeville. She was born September 9, 1926 to the late Homer Cuba and Ruth Ida Morgan Reeves to a family with deep roots in Cookeville. Rosemary was a graduate of Tennessee Polytechnic Institute in 1948 and was elected as Homecoming Queen during her senior year. She and her late husband Hugh Billingsley moved to New Jersey. After his death, she received certification to teach Home Economics and taught at John Adams Jr. High where she met her late husband Joseph Brownlee. Her full life included a multitude of friends in New Jersey known as ‘the regulars'. She returned to live in Cookeville in 2005. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Hugh M. Billingsley and Joseph Brownlee; daughter, Gail Reeves Billingsley and by sister, Margaret Ruth Reeves Smith. She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Beth and Ron Allen of Cookeville; son and daughter in law, Hugh and Elaine Billingsley of South River, NJ; four grandchildren, Michelle Billingsley of New Jersey, Rachel Allen (Jeromy) Coburn, Kristen (Jeremiah) Miller both of Cookeville and Amanda (Chris) King of Clarksville; and by four great-grandchildren, Abbie Sasser, Jozie King, Emery Miller and Eden Miller. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
