A celebration of life service for Ronald Lee Grubbs, Sr. (Red Rider), age 72, of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, December 17 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Donnie Davidson and Rev. Gerald Padgett will officiate. Interment with military honors rendered by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Sand Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 16 from 4 - 8 p.m. and Monday, December 17 from 10 a.m. until time of service. A Masonic Service will be held Sunday, December 16 at 7 p.m. Ronnie passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born January 11, 1946 in Lebanon, TN to the late Jesse William and Margaret Elizabeth Mason Grubbs. Ronnie graduated from Lebanon High School in 1963. A lifelong patriot, Ronnie was drafted into the US Marine Corp. where he served as a Lance Corporal from 1965-67. He and his son owned and operated Ronald L. Grubbs & Son Trucking Company. He started the company in 1972 and proudly working alongside his son since 1991. He kept his same customer base for all 46 years. Ronnie was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was proud to be called Pa by his grandchildren. He chose the name Pa because he grew up with a very special Pa of his own. He was a member of Cookeville Masonic Lodge 266 F&AM, having been raised in 1976. He was a Noble of the Al Menah Shrine Temple since 1977. Ronnie was a Godly man, living his Baptist faith with love for family, friends, and everyone he met. He is survived by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Brenda Copley Grubbs, whom he married June 5, 1966 in Cumberland County, TN; son, Ronald L. Grubbs, II and wife Sue of Cookeville; three daughters, Richelle Halfacre, Connie Brewer and husband Scott, all of Cookeville, Melissa Burch and husband Eric of Manchester, TN; brother, Stephen Grubbs of Greenville, SC; and eight grandchildren, Austin Burch, Hunter Grubbs, Madison Brewer, Abigail Burch, Natalie Halfacre, Will Halfacre, Samuel Burch, and Reagan Brewer, and mother-in-law, Jessie Copley Barnes. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by brother, James Grubbs; father-in-law, Hoyt Copley; and son-in-law, William 'Bill' Halfacre III. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be received at the funeral home for Shriners Hospitals for Children. In honor of Ronnie, those donations will be forwarded to Al Menah Temple, 1354 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, TN 37207. Donations may also be mailed directly to the Al Menah Temple.
