Baxter-Funeral services for Roger Lee Palk, age 34, of Baxter, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 4 at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. John Davis and Bro. Josh Sherman officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 - 8 pm and again Sunday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Roger passed away suddenly Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Baxter due to injuries he sustained from a motorcycle accident. He was born September 9, 1981 in Cookeville, TN to the late James "Jimmy" and Kathy Darlene Scarlett Palk. Roger was raised at Cedar Hill Baptist Church and rededicated his life to the Lord when he was twenty. He recently graduated from East Tennessee Regional Law Enforcement Academy. He was a loving husband and father with a big personality and infectious laugh, who made his family's life brighter while he was here. He is survived by his "girls": wife, Katy Wertz Palk (they married June 21, 2003) and daughter Alissa Kate Palk; grandmother, Mary Scarlett of Cookeville; brother and sister-in-law, James and Mandi Palk; sister and brother-in-law, April and Jamie Hawkins; all of Baxter; father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Mary Alice Wertz of Cookeville; sister-in-law, Sarah Wertz Phillips, of Evansville, IN; "second brother" cousin, Chad Jones; several aunts, uncle, nieces, and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chad Jones, Brandon Herren, John McAfee, Barry Wilson, Shane Farris, and Seth Farris. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fraternal Order of Police Cordell Hull Lodge #10, P.O. Box 1402, Cookeville, TN 38503 or North American Mission Board, P.O.
