Rodney Jarvis

A visitation gathering for Mr. William "Rodney" Jarvis, age 75, will be held Monday, December 18th from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm (CST) at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

A graveside service and interment will be held Tuesday, December 19th at 2:00pm (EST) at Resthaven Cemetery in Harlan, Kentucky.

He died Tuesday December 12, 2023 at his residence.

He was born November 6, 1948 in Harlan, KY to the late William "Bill" Raleigh Jarvis and Dorothy Mae Asher Jarvis.

Rodney had a strong work ethic throughout his life. He worked in coal mines in Harlan and Middlesboro, KY from 1964 until 1991. He was also a farmer and lived out his dream of being a cowboy by competing in team roping events. He and wife Doris moved to Cookeville in 1991. He opened Lighthouse Auto in 1997 and worked along with his son until his retirement in 2015. He had a love for antique cars and enjoyed taking vehicles to local shows and cruise-ins. He served many years as a Deacon at Cumberland Gap First Baptist and enjoyed attending many area churches. He had a special and loving relationship with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Fay Rouse Jarvis; son, William Richard "Rick" Jarvis and wife Holly Helton Jarvis; daughter, Mary Suzanne Jarvis, all of Cookeville; brother, Verlis Eugene Jarvis and wife Sue of Cumberland Gap, TN; and by grandchildren, Olivia Rose Jarvis Cloud and husband Caleb Cloud, William Rexton Jarvis and wife Neely Joyce Jarvis, Oliva Ann Turbeville and Brett Lee Turbeville.
