Rodger Vickers

Funeral services for Rodger Dale Vickers, 68 of Cookeville, will be Friday, November 10 at 1 PM at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Crest Lawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 AM until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Kenny Westmoreland will officiate.

Mr. Vickers died Monday, November 6, 2023 at Signature HealthCare of Putnam County in Algood, TN.

He was born May 18, 1955 in Putnam County to the late Vay Aldon Vickers, Sr. and the late Vada Ann Gaw Vickers.

He graduated from Putnam County Senior High School in 1974 and was a member of Hilham Road Free Will Baptist Church.

Rodger was in grocery management for Spring Street Market and Sav-A-Lot for 14 years.

He enjoyed gardening, his dogs company and companionship and was a big NASCAR fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Emogene Burgess, Jimmie Ford, Julia Zurawski and Bennie Cole; brothers, Bobby Vickers and Johnny Vickers and 2 infant siblings and a granddaughter Malory Jean Gunter.

Survivors include daughter Melissa (Lucas) Gunter of Knoxville, son Jeff (Angie) Vickers of Knoxville, daughter Miranda (Justin) Ellis of McMinnville, and daughter Natasha Vickers of Red Boiling Springs; sisters, Juanita Bartlett, Lola (Wheeler) Boles, Donna (Tommy) Palk all of Cookeville; brothers, Richard (Linda) Vickers of Cookeville, David (Tomi) Vickers of California, Vay Vickers Jr. of Cookeville, Billy Vickers of Michigan; 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
