Robert Vernon Jones, a cherished soul known fondly as Robert to all who knew him, departed from this world on August 7, 2024, at NHC of Cookeville, leaving behind a legacy of joy and love. Born on June 10, 1972, in the beautiful city of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert's life was a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
Robert's journey was marked by the unwavering support of his loving family. He was the beloved son of Patricia Jones, who survives him, and the late Robie Dorse Jones, sister in law Marie Anderson, and brother in law John Ferrell. His life was enriched by the bonds he shared with his siblings: Stephen John Anderson, Robie James Jones and his wife Deborah, Bobby Dale Jones and his wife Brenda, Donna Marie Jones, and Catherine Ferrell. Each of them held a special place in his heart, as did his nieces and nephews, Jason Ferrell, Misty Ferrell and wife Ashley and Heather Ferrell, Brandi Mendez, Marcel Jones, Christopher Jones, Andy Jones and wife Chantell, Tyler Jones, Chad Overcast, Joe Brown, Mary Essler, and Peter Essler. Robert also adored his great-nieces and nephews, Chad Overcast, Brooks and Davis Jones, Wyatt, Bailey, and Brandon Ferrell, Trinity Mullins, Nakoa, and Kaiden Mendez who brought him immense joy. His family will continue to honor his memory by living out the values of love and friendship that he exemplified so well.
Despite the challenges posed by Down syndrome, Robert approached life with an infectious enthusiasm and a heart full of love. His passions were many and varied, reflecting the richness of his personality. A devoted Elvis fan, Robert found great joy in the music and charisma of the King of Rock 'n' Roll. He also possessed a competitive streak, which he channeled into his love for bowling, a sport in which he delighted in both the camaraderie and the thrill of the game.
Robert's creativity shone through in his writing, a hobby that allowed him to express his thoughts and dreams. He was a dedicated Batman fan, finding inspiration in the caped crusader's adventures and the triumph of good over evil. Wrestling, too, captured his imagination, as he cheered on his favorite heroes in the ring. And, true to his warm and affectionate nature, Robert never shied away from expressing his admiration for pretty girls.
Above all, Robert's love for God was the cornerstone of his existence. His faith was a source of comfort and strength, guiding him through life's ups and downs with grace and conviction.
A man of few words but many smiles, Robert was the epitome of loving and friendly. His presence could light up a room, and his gentle spirit made him a friend to all. The words that best describe Robert-loving and friendly-are not mere adjectives but the essence of a life well-lived and a soul well-loved.
Robert's final farewell will be a private graveside service and interment, which will take place on Saturday, August 10, at Cookeville City Cemetery. It will be a moment for family and close friends to gather in remembrance of a life that, though it has ended on this earth, continues to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know him.
