COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Robert Gerald Richardson, a beloved member of the community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on May 7, 1946, in Putnam County, Tennessee, Robert led a life filled with dedication, humor, and a profound Christian faith that he cherished deeply.
A proud alumnus of Algood High School, from which he graduated in 1964, Robert went on to serve his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. His commitment to service continued throughout his career in security, law enforcement, and corrections, where he made lasting contributions while working at the Cookeville City Police Department, Tennessee Technological University Safety and Security, the Tennessee Department of Revenue, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections, from which he retired.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Robert was known for his vibrant personality and infectious humor. He loved telling jokes and brought joy to those around him with his lighthearted spirit. A true outdoor enthusiast, he found solace in fishing, relished spending time on the family farm in Centerville, Tennessee, and enjoyed long drives along country roads. His fondness for western movies was a testament to his appreciation for classic storytelling.
Robert leaves behind a loving family who will forever remember him. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Gore (Wayne), and grandson, Brady Gore. Cherished sisters, Sheila Hyatt (Don) and sister-in-law Brenda Richardson, also mourn his passing, alongside a host of friends who were privileged to know him.
