Robert Draper

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lynn Draper, age 96 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, June 9 at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with James Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery. Mr. Draper's family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Robert Lynn died Friday morning June 5, 2015 at his home. He was born June 21, 1918 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Howard Young and Adelia Lynn Draper. Mr. Draper leaves a legacy of service to his family, church, and community. He was a retired farmer and a life-long member of Smyrna Church of Christ. He served as a board member for the Putnam County Soil Conservation District for over 31 years and has been a long-time board member of the Putnam County Farmers Co-operative and the Farm Bureau. He won the Master Soil Conservation Award; the Goodyear Tennessee Farmer of the Year Award; and maintained a herd of Aberdeen Angus Cattle on his Dodson Branch Road Farm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Willie Howard Huddleston. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Christine Boatman Draper (whom he married August 31, 1952 in Cookeville) two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Jeff Dudley of Destin, FL and Mary Anne and Doug Rush of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Erin (Dewayne) Patterson, Brittany (Jeremy) Nash, and Weston (Tiffany) Dudley; and, and a great-granddaughter, Draper Nash. Mr. A. C. Clark will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer. Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Lane, Gary Brewington, Carl Jones, Alan Cantrell, Wayne Langford, Frankie Phy, and Weston Dudley.
