Funeral Services for Robert P. Cowan, 87 of Cookeville, TN will be held Wednesday, April 24th at 10 a.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bros. Clarence DeLoach and Jeremiah Tatum will officiate. His family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Robert passed away Sunday morning, April 21, 2019 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born May 5, 1931 in Cookeville TN to the late Walter C. & Lou Alcorn Cowan. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to all that knew him. He was a Christian and a deacon serving at the Holladay Church of Christ for many years until his accident, which forced a closer place of worship. He then attended Willow Ave. Church of Christ, another church family that he loved. Robert served his country in the Korean conflict from 1952-1953. He was a salesman for Maggart Tire, manager for Potter Freight Line, and Frito Lay until his retirement. He attended schools in Cookeville and finished his high school education through his company's tuition program. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Betty June Burchett Cowan; son, Randy and wife Janie Cowan of Sparta; grandson, Joey & wife Tracie Cowan and great-grandson, Parker of Watertown. He loved all the kids in his life, including step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Aaron Estes, AnnaJane Cherry, Grayson & Brandi Winnigham; Dalton Cherry, Kaden Cherry, Leianna Cherry, and Tatum Estes. He is also survived by his siblings, brother and wife, Bill & Marie Cowan; sister and husband, Dot and Raymond Brown all of Cookeville; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Cowan. Serving as Pallbearers are: Charles Bean, Jim Briggs, Glen Dunn, James Green, Phil Phillips, Paul Pippin, Tom Sponholtz, and Don Wagnon. Honorary Pallbearers are the elders and deacons of Willow Avenue Church. Memorial donations may be made to Happy Haven Children's Home, 2311 Wakefield Dr. Cookeville, TN 38501.
