COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Robert A. Philo, 76, of the Dodson Branch Community, will be held Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oddfellow Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, April 18, from 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Philo died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 5, 1931, in Burlington, Mich., to the late Allen Newell and Edith Eulalia Philo. His family includes his wife of 53 years, Janie Sue Holland Philo; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Fisk of Cookeville; three grandchildren and their spouses, Katie Gollannek and husband Eric, TSgt. Jeremy Fisk and wife SSgt. Kristi, and Kristin Norrod; and six great-grandchildren, Bryson, Kyra and Jaycee Fisk, Odin and Willem Gollannek and Dominick Norrod. Mr. Philo retired from the Carpenter's Union in 1986 and delivered Meals on Wheels for the past two years for UCHRA. He was Past Master of Cookeville Lodge and Past Commander of Cumberland Commandery. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Chattanooga where he served as a member of the 3rd Degree Team. Mr. Philo was a member of the Crossville Masonic Bodies, where he filled many seats. He was a member of Al Menah Shrine temple, where he worked as a roadrunner. He was past Chapter DAD and Chairman of Cookeville Demolay. Mr. Philo was also Past Royal Patron of the Order of the Amaranth and a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He received the distinguished service award for service to Kiwanis in California. He also received K.C.C.H. from the Scottish Rite and K.Y.C.H. from the York Rite, the Cross of Honor and the Legion of Honor from Demolay. Dickie Johnson will officiate the services.
