Rita Grissom

Rita Lowe Grissom, age 79 of Cookeville, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Cedar Hills Senior Living Community.

Rita had chosen cremation, and a private graveside service with her family will be held at a later date.

She was born on March 4, 1943 in Hazel Park, Michigan to the late Iva Truman Lowe and Minnie Lou Allison Lowe.

Rita was an avid traveler in her younger day, and enjoyed recounting her adventures to family and friends. She rarely met a stranger, and was adored by all who knew her. Rita cherished her family, especially her three grandsons, who were her biggest pride and joy.

She retired from Porelon/Identity Group with over 40 years of service.

Rita was a member of Sycamore Church of Christ, where she previously taught the Two-Year-Old Bible Class on Wednesday night for many years.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Lisa Grissom, and Matt and Tracey Grissom; three grandsons, Ethan, Kason, and Kolton Grissom; a sister, Judy Lowe Low; two nieces, Amy Godsey (David) Gore, and Jennifer (Terry) Mitchell; two nephews, Chris Godsey and Josh (Jessica) Grissom; four great-nephews, Will and Drew Gore, and Evan and Wyatt Mitchell; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dale and Betty Grissom.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Fowler Low.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Cedar Hills Senior Living Community and Caris Healthcare for the loving care provided to Rita.
