Rita Craighead

Mrs. Rita Grigg Craighead, age 76, of Murfreesboro and formerly of Cookeville, passed away Wednesday March 6, 2019 at her home. She was born Thursday August 13, 1942 in Fayette, AL to the late William Edgar and Frankie Mills Grigg, Sr. Mrs. Craighead was a member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church. She was retired administrative assistant with the City of Cookeville. She collaborated in the start of several projects including Leadership Putnam, CityScape and Cookeville Cook Off (Fall Fun Fest). She was a talented organizer and promoter for the Cookeville community. Her family includes a daughter, Andrea Leigh Craighead of Murfreesboro; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Mary Grigg of Murfreesboro; a niece, Deborah Craighead; nephews, Jimmy and Richard Craighead; and great nephews, Will and Sam Grigg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert (Bob) Craighead. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday March 9 at Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Kevin Conrad will officiate. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Allen Ray, Judge Leon Burns, Ken Fuller, Chuck Hughes, Tim Mansfield, Tommy Austin, and Bruce Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hicks and Bob Duncan.
