Ricky L. Roberts

May 13, 1966 — September 14, 2024

DYER CHAPEL - Ricky “Rickochet” L. Roberts, a longtime resident of Algood, TN, passed away peacefully in his hometown on September 14, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on May 13, 1966, in Cookeville to the late James Harould and Wanda Gail Cleghorn Roberts. Ricky lived a full life marked by devotion to his family and a passion for the open road as a truck driver.

Ricky’s journey through life was filled with joy and love, especially in the company of his wife of 25 years, Janet "Kaye" Whaley Roberts, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. He was a proud father to his son, Travis (Abigail) Roberts of Crossville, and daughter, Lindsey (Travis) Gibbons of Baxter. His step-daughter, Amanda Coffman of Arkansas, also held a special place in his heart. Ricky's role as a grandfather was one he cherished profoundly, with granddaughter Shelby Roberts and step-grandchildren Zealous and Zion Clark bringing immense joy to his life.

Ricky was educated at Algood School, where he formed the foundations of lifelong friendships and a strong sense of community. His career as a truck driver spanned several companies, where his hard work, reliability, and camaraderie with fellow drivers made him a respected member of the transportation community. Those who worked with Ricky knew him as a man of integrity and good humor.

Beyond his achievements in work and family, Ricky had a deep love for fishing which allowed him moments of tranquility and reflection. He found great pleasure in working on cars, a skill he honed with meticulous care and enthusiasm. Ricky was also known among friends and family as a big "cut-up," always ready with a playful joke, providing laughter and lightness in any situation.

Ricky’s love extended to his four-legged companion, a devoted dog that was by his side through thick and thin. The bond they shared was a beautiful sight to all who knew them.

He is survived by his loving family, including his brother, Jeff Roberts of Algood, who will miss Ricky’s sage advice and warm presence. Ricky's life was a portrait of the joy that comes from loving and being loved. While he traveled many roads, it was the journey of life that Ricky navigated with grace, a sense of humor, and a heart full of love.

Mr. Roberts's final request for cremation are being honored and the family will celebrate his life at a later date.

As Ricky's family and friends mourn their loss, they celebrate and honor a life well-lived. Ricky L. Roberts’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will endure through the stories retold and the love he left behind. Ricky's passage from this world has left an indelible mark, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
