Ricky Carl Bohannon, known affectionately to friends and family as Rick, went home to be with the Lord on Friday on March 1, 2024, at the age of 66. Born on August 1, 1957, in Cookeville, Rick was a lifelong resident of the town he loved and served with distinction.
Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Debbie Looper Bohannon, who was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they raised their daughter, Tabitha Savage, who along with her husband, Randy, brought joy and pride to Rick's heart. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Kathy Medley, and her husband, Michael, as well as his cherished nephew, Christopher Medley. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, R.V. Bohannon and Ruth Jean Whitteaker Bohannon, who instilled in him the values of family, faith, and service.
For 31 1/2 years, Rick dedicated his life to protecting the community as a member of the Cookeville Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. His bravery, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the safety of others earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community he served.
A man of deep faith, Rick was a faithful member of Rocky Point Baptist Church, where he served as song leaders. He loved the Lord with all his heart. Rick's Christian values were evident in the way he lived his life, always putting others before himself and spreading kindness wherever he went. Rick's sense of humor was one of his most memorable traits. Known as a prankster and jokester, he had a unique ability to light up a room with his funny antics and warm presence.
Rick had a passion for motorcycles. An avid enthusiast, he found freedom and joy on the open road and the dirt path, often accompanied by friends who shared his love for the ride. At home, his heart was filled with love for his dogs, Molly and Abby, who were his loyal companions and brought him immeasurable happiness.
Rick was a remarkable man, a great husband, and a loving father. His legacy is one of laughter, faith, and love-a legacy that will be carried on by those who knew him best. He will be remembered for his funny stories, his faith-filled heart, and the countless lives he touched with his generous spirit.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home.
