Richard White

Richard Percy White, 84, of Cookeville TN, passed away peacefully in his home with family surrounding him on June 30, 2022. Richard was born on April 23, 1938, to Harold and Christine White in Nashville, TN. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960 aboard the U.S.S. Warrick. During his service he was on the Navy Boxing Team, and he received the Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal. He married the love of his life, Beverly Swafford, on June 10, 1960. Richard and Beverly went on to have 3 children, Jesse Todd White, Jesse Dean White, and Harold Bryant White. Richard was an entrepreneur at heart and owned several small businesses while in tandem working at Nashville Ford Glass Plant. After his retirement, Richard spent his time fishing, spending quality time with his grandsons, bible study every morning with his wife, attending Stevens Street Baptist Church, doing house and yard projects, watching old westerns on TV, telling jokes, and playing cards 3 times a week with his dear friends. Richard was predeceased by his father, Harold Potter White; his mother, Christine Curd White Sanford; his brother Harold Potter White Jr.; his son Jesse Todd White; and his grandson, Richard Peyton White. He is survived by his wife Beverly Swafford White, his two sons Jesse Dean White (Debbie) and Harold Bryant White (Susan), his grandson Erik Jordan White (Rebekah), and his two sisters Nancie Woodard (Ronnie) and Pennie Callis (George). He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday July 21 at Stevens Street Baptist Church. His family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
