Funeral services for Richard Sidney Greene, age 70, of Cookeville will be Monday evening, January 21, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until time of the service at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Greene entered into rest Wednesday, January 16, 2013 peacefully at his home and surrounded by his family. Richard was born May 30, 1942 in Cortland New York to the late Sidney Vincent Greene and Madeline Elizabeth Marble Greene. Richard loved life and was a huge race and football fan. He also enjoyed find-a-word puzzles and a friendly card game. He took pride in his yard and spent hours getting it just like he wanted it. Richard is survived by his wife, Judy Katherine Greene and five children; Carol Thompson (Tom) of Seymour TN, Rick Greene (Chantyl) of Antioch TN, Randy Greene (Amy) of Seymour TN, Cathy Bentley (Dean) of Mascott TN, Becky White (Jack) of Sparta TN, and a daughter-in-law, Josie Greene of Pigeon Forge TN. He is also survived by two sisters; Elaine Dillon (Harvey) of Red Rock TX, and Winifred Lisenby (Robert) of Brookendale NY, as well as two brothers; James Greene (Margaret) of El Paso TX, and Warren Greene (Linda) of Cortland NY. Richard leaves behind eighteen grandchildren; Aaron Greene, Sydney Howard, McKenzie Howard, Tommy Thompson, Melissa Campbell, Nicole Anderson, Nicolette Murray, Olivia Jackson, Sydney Greene, Adam Greene, Chelsey Parton, Courtney Parton, Cameron Parton, Tyler Bentley, Daniel Whitson, A.J. White, Lexi White and Niki Kennedy (who was raised by Richard and Judy). Mr. Greene is also survived by four great-grandchildren and one on the way, a special brother-in-law, Richard Glass, a special niece, Viola Dixon, and was a great uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in death by a son, Robert Greene, and daughter, Anna Phillips, and grandson, Zachariah Greene, and a special nephew, Bobby Dixon. The family has requested memorial contributions be made for Richard to the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Cancer Center, and Judy would like to express her deepest appreciation to Highland Rim Home Health for their wonderful care of Richard.
