Richard George Pahl, a retired truck driver, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at his residence in Cookeville, Tennessee. Born on February 23, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, Richard lived a life characterized by wisdom and warmth. He had a remarkable gift for conversation, creating connections with everyone he met, and was known for his laid-back approach to life, enjoying each moment to the fullest.
Richard was fiercely loyal to his family, cherishing the relationships he built over the years. He took immense joy in being a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ramona Pahl. He is especially proud of his family including: daughters Melissa Carter, with her husband Dale, and Sierra Spencer, along with son William Shepherd, who is married to Tara. Richard's love extended to his grandchildren, Abby, Spencer, Opal Grace, and Cole, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He is also survived by his sister, Anita Crossely, and her husband Robert; his sister-in-law, Sheena Hill; and his brother-in-law, Joe Hill, who is married to Gaye. He was grateful to have a supportive mother-in-law, Judy Ann Hill, and was fortunate to be surrounded by several nieces and nephews who adored him.
Throughout his life, Richard enjoyed engaging in hobbies that brought people together, such as cookouts and barbeques, where his infectious laughter could often be heard. He also had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed playing poker with friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Capt. Raymond F. Pahl and Wanda Shults Pahl, as well as his father-in-law, Joe Hill. His legacy of love, loyalty, and lively conversation will be remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date. Richard's family would like to thank Gentiva hospice staff, Nicole, Ariel and Ash for the care and compassion rendered during their care for Richard.
