Richard George Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Wednesday evening April 16, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 7, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to George Frederick Miller and Nellie Thelma Cotter, both of whom predeceased him.
Richard had a distinguished career, retiring after 33 years as a communication specialist with the Central Intelligence Agency. His work took him to nine different countries, showcasing his dedication and skill in serving his country. He was also a proud US Navy veteran, a testament to his commitment to service.
A quiet introvert amid a family of extroverts, Richard found joy in the simple things in life. His reserved nature often led him to appreciate the beauty of serving behind the scenes, particularly in his role at Stevens Street Baptist Church. There, he served as a deacon and contributed to the audio/visual team, working diligently to enhance the worship experience for others.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Richard embraced his interests with passion. He was an enthusiastic ham radio operator, a hobby that allowed him to connect with others and engage in meaningful conversations from afar.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Glee Miller, whom he married on January 19, 1962, in Portersville, Pennsylvania. He leaves behind two sons, Curtis Miller (Janet) and Ronald Miller, and a daughter, Sonia Allen (Barry). His legacy continues through his six grandchildren, Jessica Miller, Nina Miller, Hunter Foster (Katie), Josh Foster (Madison), Dalton Miller, and Savannah Miller, along with three great-grandchildren, Weston, Warrick, and Whitaker.
