Richard Joseph Larkin, age 95 of Cookeville and formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away Saturday November 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by family members. Services and inurnment will be planned for a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. A celebration day is planned also in Pittsburgh for friends and relatives. Richard was born January 7, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late William and Lena Noulet Larkin. He was one of ten children born to this family of love and laughter. He was a US Navy WWII veteran having served on the USS Quincy. They were at D-Day, Tokyo Bay and they brought FDR to Yalta. On the way back, FDR hosted the King of Saudi Arabia on board, establishing a diplomatic relationship that exists to this day. After his military service, Richard came back to Pittsburgh and began a 35 year career with Pepsi. He retired as public relations director. Richard was also a talented pantomime entertainer and comedian working all around the Pittsburgh area for 30 plus years. ( Why does a watermelon have seeds ) ...it couldn't SPIT ! His parents help start The Royal Outing Club in 1903 where family and friends still gather today for weekends of fun and fellowship. Moon as everyone called him was the longest living member. He is survived by his wife of 50 years; Patricia Hutter Larkin; son, Bob (Julie) Sotis of Cookeville; daughter, Debbie Steffler of Atlanta, GA; three special nephews, Bobby Bingham, Billy (Judy) Larkin and John Larkin; four grandchildren, many other nephews and nieces and four great grandchildren.
