IRVINGTON, KENTUCKY Richard Nicols Hull, 84, of Irvington, passed away December 26, 2016 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. Born April 6, 1932 in Aberdeen, Ohio, he was the son of the late Leonard and Elizabeth Nicols Hull. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Macy Hull, and his sister Beulah Hull Stigers. Richard joined the U.S. Air Force immediately following high school, where he attained the rank of Staff Sargeant during the Korean War. He received an early military discharge because he was accepted to the U.K. School of Engineering, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Civil Service at Ft. Knox, KY, with over 25 years of service as an electrical engineer. During retirement, he enjoyed boating and fishing at Rough River Lake, visiting with his friends at Rainbow Gardens, and avidly following University of Kentucky basketball. He is survived by five children: Michael Ray Stearman of Irvington, Richard Wayne (Sharon Gay) Hull of Glen Allen, VA, David Alan (Sharon Lynn) Hull of Warsaw, KY, Carol Diane (John) Bartlett of Cookeville, TN and Tracy Lynn Hull of Irvington. Three grandchildren: Parker, Sean Paden and Katie. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, 7 p.m. EST, at the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington, KY; with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. EST before the service.
