Rebecca Langley

Graveside services and interment for Rebecca Dean Broyles Langley, age 89 of North Carolina and formerly of Cookeville, will be held at 12 noon Saturday April 16 at Salem Church Cemetery in Cookeville, TN. The Reverend Casey Langley Orr (granddaughter) will officiate. Following the service, the family invites friends to attend a reception honoring Rebecca’s life at the Langley residence. Rebecca passed away on Monday April 11, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Rebecca, born in Cookeville on September 7, 1932, was the daughter of the late Haggard Broyles and Johnnie Dimple Huddleston Broyles. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bobby Lee Langley. She is survived by her three children; Mike (Tami) Langley of Fisherville, KY, Terri (Jeff) Boyd of Charlotte, NC and John (Kim) Langley of Franklin, TN and her sister Virginia Broyles Clay of Hoschton, GA. She was Mimi to her grandchildren TJ, Cody, Casey, Kyle, Brent, Lacey and Ashley and 17 great grandchildren. In 1953, Rebecca married Bob, one semester short of graduating from TPI (TTU). After her young children all attended school she pursued her education and received her undergraduate degree in Business Education from Wittenberg University, in Springfield, OH and a Masters Degree in Business Education at the University of Utah. Following Bob’s twenty years of serving in the US Air Force, Bob and Rebecca retired in Cookeville, TN. Rebecca then spent 20 years teaching business courses at Putnam County Senior High School. She was an avid tennis player, golfer, bridge player, gardener and a member of the Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Rebecca was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, daughter, grandmother, aunt, friend and a follower of Christ. She is already missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bob and Rebecca Langley Scholarship Fund at Tennessee Tech University at 931-372-6102.
