Public graveside service and interment for Rebecca Jean Smith James, 57 of Baxter, will be Monday, December 28 at 3 PM at Dobbs Cemetery. Bro. Corey Price will officiate. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mrs. James died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at her home. She was born August 27, 1963 in Hagerstown, Maryland to Alice Jean Whitmer Smith Dobbs of Baxter and the late Roger Lee Smith, Sr. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Robin Natalie, a step-brother Timmy Dobbs. She was a member of Ozion Free Will Baptist Church. Rebecca was a retired hair stylist. She enjoyed painting, fishing and decorating. Survivors in addition to her mother include sons Brenton Dale Long of Cookeville, Matthew Jesse James and fiance Alyssa Ortega of Baxter, sisters Roxanna Smith and Regina Smith both of Hagerstown, Maryland, brother Roger Lee Smith, Jr. of Baxter,step-sister Robin Lynn Dobbs, step-brother Freddie Ray Dobbs, Jr. and wife Debra all of Vienna, VA., grandchildren: Abby and Alayna Long, Ava, Matthew and Hailey James, several nieces and nephews.
