Funeral services for Ms. Rebecca McWilliams Brown, age 49, of Cookeville, will be at 2 p.m. Monday August 20 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Chatman officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 am until time of services. A private graveside service will be held in Grenada, Mississippi on her birthday, September 13. Rebecca passed away suddenly Wednesday August 15, 2018 at her home. She was born September 13, 1968 in Owensboro, KY to the late Kenneth Darrell Brown and Jessie Holmes Gully of Owensboro, KY. Rebecca loved her family and friends. She loved the family traditions her grandparents and parents created and made sure those were passed on to her daughter. Grenada, Mississippi, Ireland, and where ever she happened to be with her daughter, were her favorite places on earth. She volunteered with the National MS Society. She was a career bookkeeper working for many businesses including the Historic Rugby community, where she also worked with the historical society and led tours of the community. She devoted the majority of time and energy raising her daughter, Abby. She took great pride and joy in watching her grow into the young lady she is today. She volunteered for the activities that Abby participated in, including coaching youth soccer at the local Y. The family appreciates the kind words and tributes left on social media that describes what kind of person Rebecca was. She will be forever missed by her family and friends. One of her favorite quotes is from Oscar Wilde. It reads; "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." She was her own person. She had a keen sense of humor and loved laughing with others. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Abby Paul of Cookeville; brother, Scott (Nancy) Brown of Cookeville; sister, Elizabeth (James) Bosse of Murfreesboro, TN; aunt, Rebecca Gully of New York; grandmother, Virginia Brown of Owensboro, KY; and several nephews.
