Funeral services for Ransom Ira Choate, 81, of Cookeville will be held Sunday, 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Bolestown Cemetery in Pickett County. Rev. Tim Frank will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday noon until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Choate died Thursday afternoon, December 1, 2011 at Cumberland House Hospice in Crossville. He was born January 7, 1930 in Pickett County, TN to the late Robert Allen and Mary Lena Boles Choate. Mr. Choate was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church where he served in the usher ministry. He retired as a metal model maker from Chrysler Corporation. He was an US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Frances Manis Choate of Cookeville (whom he married March 3, 1951 in Kingston, TN); son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sandy Choate of Tucker, GA; one granddaughter, Stephanie Choate of Athens, GA; three brothers, Warren Choate of Cookeville; John "Oren"� Choate and wife Mary of Atlanta, GA; Robert Norman "Bob"� Choate and wife Emma of Summerville, SC; and a sister, Elizabeth Auzna Wilder of Clarkrange, TN and many loving nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Cookeville Gideon Camp, Box 422, Cookeville, TN 38502 or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201.
