Rajan Dogra, 60, died in the presence of his loved ones on Sunday morning, December 28, 2014, from rare complications after heart surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Even after many years of struggling with health issues, he remained strong and fought until the end with strength and fortitude. Rajan was born on December 25, 1954, in New Delhi, India. Joining his father and 3 siblings, he migrated to the US in 1982 and moved from Wisconsin to Cookeville, TN in 1997. Rajan worked at Cookeville Medical Clinic and then opened up India Palace restaurant to serve delicious, flavorful Indian cuisine to the Upper Cumberland area. Making others happy through cooking and a fun environment was truly his passion. Though difficult to describe Rajan in summation, one word that highlights Rajan is dynamic. He was extremely hard working and remained high-spirited throughout his life. His friendly sociable personality would always light up the room through his positive, energetic nature, perseverance, and sense of humor. A loving family man, Rajan did everything he could to provide for his family. He is survived by his wife Naresh; his 12 year old son Aryan; his older brother and sister-in-law, Deapak and Sarita Dogra of Oshkosh, WI; two older sisters and brothers-in-law, Jyoti and Dr. PK Jain of Cookeville, Rajni and Dr. Rajender Rathour of New Berlin, WI; nieces, Natasha and Natalie Jain, Deepti and Pooja Dogra; nephews, Navin Jain and Rajesh Rathour; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Om Praksash and Nirmal Dogra. In lieu of flowers or any gifts, the family wishes to establish an education fund for the son in remembrance of Rajan. Contributions will be kindly accepted and can be made by contacting the funeral home.
