Graveside services for Pollyanna Lynn Garrison, 85, of Cookeville, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23 at Smyrna Cemetery. Bro. Randy Bybee will officiate. Visitation will be held immediately following the service at the graveside. Mrs. Garrison passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015, in her home at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. She was born August 28, 1929, in Cookeville to the late UL Lynn and the late Anna Hutcheson Lynn. She was married May 19, 1950 to Howell Bernard ( H.B. ) Garrison, Jr. in Cookeville, TN. She attended and worked at Tennessee Technological University where received her B.S. degree in English. She followed her husband to Knoxville where she worked in the state 4-H office while he pursued a Master's degree at University of Tennessee in agriculture. He later became an Agriculture Extension Leader. They spent a brief time in Shelbyville where they shared the birth of their first daughter. In 1952, Mr. Garrison took a job in Livingston, Tennessee where they spent most of their married life. It was in Livingston where they shared the births of three more daughters. Mrs. Garrison loved their years in Livingston where they were faithful members of Livingston Church of Christ. She served as church secretary for many years. She enjoyed her work experience which included the Livingston Enterprise, teaching at Livingston Vocational School, and the Livingston radio station, WLIV. Then she began an extended service in education as a business teacher at Livingston Academy. She loved her friends and former students very much. She also loved art, music, and literature of all kinds. She was selfless, and had a gentle, loving spirit that will continue living in the hearts of those who knew her. Her greatest joy was her family. Mrs. Garrison's family includes daughters, Lynn Hawkins and husband Jess; Roxanne Self and husband Gary; Betty Jean Boswell; and June Cantrell and husband Allen. She had four grandchildren; Amy Boswell Heidel, John Boswell, Alexis Cantrell Webb, and Sydney Cantrell. There are three great grandchildren; Nathan Heidel, Cameron Gaw, and Andrew Boswell. There are also many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years and a brother, Tommy UL Lynn. Polly's family would especially like to thank their mother's wonderful caregivers; Misty Colwell, Stacey Newberry, Rose Smith, Miranda Cook, Debbie Hood, and Sandy Jackson.
