Phillip Wassom

Phillip Ray Wassom, 75 of Cookeville, died Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His wishes of cremation and no services are being honored. He was born December 13, 1945 in Wayne County, Michigan to the late Cleon and Notie Roberson Wassom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Michelle Wassom. Phillip graduated from Central High School in 1965. He then served in the Air Force from 1968-1972. He retired as a Police Officer with Tennessee Tech University with 24 years of service. Phillip was a gun trader, liked classic cars, and was a fan of college and professional football. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the grandkids. Survivors include daughters Amanda Wassom and fiance Chris DeBot, Sarah (Seth) Kinnaird all of Cookeville, sons Matthew (Dena) Wassom of DeKalb County, Cody Wassom of Cookeville, his step-mother Ann Jared Wassom of Livingston, half brother Greg Wassom of Cookeville, granddaughters Katie Holman and Zoe DeBot, step-grandsons Tyler and Alex Quarles, mother of his children Rochelle Wassom of Cookeville. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Veterans Honor Guard, P.O. Box 67, Cookeville, TN 38503 in Phillip's memory.
