Celebration of Life service for James Paul "Pete" Ray, Sr., 65 of Cookeville will be Sunday, January 30 at 4 PM at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston, Horner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 30 from 2 pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Clarence Jared will officiate. Mr. Ray died Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1956 in Livingston to the late Sam and Bonnie (Ray) Ray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vonda Roberts Ray; sisters, Reba Knight and Brenda Gossett; brothers, Buddy, Jerry, Kenny, Joe and Donnie Ray. He was a retired mechanic, working on cars and tire repair. Pete enjoyed fishing, football, T.V. westerns and NASCAR racing. Survivors include daughter, Tara (James) Williamson of Inman, S.C., son, James Paul (Constance) Ray, Jr. of Murfreesboro, sister, Mary Smith of Scottsboro, Alabama, grandchildren: Abigail Williamson and Hughes Rheinscheld, his pet dog, D.O.G. Memorial donations may be made to the family to help with D.O.G.' care. Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931)526-7158.
