COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Patsy Ruth Loftis, a cherished member of her family, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born on October 4, 1942 in Gadsden, Tennessee. She lived a life characterized by selflessness and a fiery spirit.
Patsy graduated from Gadsden High School and attended Jackson Business College. She worked as a secretary and cost clerk at the Wintergarden in Bells, Tennessee where she met and married her late husband, William Powell Loftis. They were married on June 30, 1965 and married for 56 years. Patsy dedicated her life to her family, pouring love and care into every aspect of her home. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and they brought her immense joy and pride. On August 18, 1960 she accepted Jesus and was baptized at Bells Church of Christ. She was also a former Sunday school teacher at Hickory Knoll Church of Christ in Harahan, Louisiana. She was currently a member of the Smyrna Church of Christ. Patsy was known for her strong faith and commitment to her family.
She is survived by her son, William Patrick Loftis; daughter, Connie Patricia Lynchard and her husband Bryan; grandchildren, Bethany Grace Lynchard and Caleb Andrew Lynchard; sister, Nina Haile; brother, Richard Thompson; sister-in-law, Nancy Thompson; as well as several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Richardson Thompson and Margarete Wallis Thompson; her husband, William Powell Loftis; her brother, Harold Thompson Sr.; and her sister-in-law, Lauren Thompson.
A funeral service honoring Patsy will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. James Rogers will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Sunday from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Patsy will be laid to rest at Smyrna Cemetery.
Patsy Ruth Loftis will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her grandchildren. She was the best Gramma to Bethany Grace and Caleb Andrew. Her legacy of love and dedication to family will forever remain in their hearts.
