Patrick Hicks

June 15, 1931 — August 27, 2021

Patrick Henry Hicks III of Monterey, TN passed away on Friday, August 27 at age 90 in Signature Healthcare of Putnam County in Algood. He was a professional musician and teacher who was born and grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and attended Reynolds High School. He studied piano at Washington Missionary College in Takoma Park, MD and received an undergraduate degree there. He later attended Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore where he met and married Patsy Ann Bell. He sang in the National Cathedral Choir and conducted the Loma Linda University Church Choir. He taught piano at Atlantic Union College in Massachusetts before returning to North Carolina where he served as organist and choir director for several churches through the years. He continued to teach piano until age 87 and was a passionate and dedicated musician. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his wife Patsy, and is survived by his son Patrick IV, son Robert and daughter-in-law Tricia and three grandchildren - Caroline, Sara and Jenna. Burial services will be private, but a memorial service will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 4 at the Greensboro, NC Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1320 Fleming Rd.
