Ovella Loftis

Funeral services for Mrs. Ovella Newberry Loftis, 75 of Nashville and formerly of Cookeville will be held Tuesday August 12 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Hermitage Funeral Home with Tom Boyette officiating. Graveside services and interment will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Smyrna Cemetery in Cookeville. Mrs. Loftis passed from this life on August 9, 2014 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was born October 4, 1938 in Jackson County, TN to the late Frank H and Irene Moore Newberry. She was a member of the Pennington Bend Church of Christ and loved children and taught them for many years. Ovella retired from Metro-Davidson County Schools Food Services. Ovella was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Mark B Loftis. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert H. Loftis (whom she married September 3, 1958 in Cookeville daughter and son-in-law, Teressa and Marc Loftis of Knoxville; two sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Kathye Loftis of Hermitage, TN, and Jeff and Sharon Loftis of Henderson, TN; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Hopkins, Anthony Upchurch, Mike (Amy) Loftis, Jamie Loftis, Kerri Loftis, Krissy Loftis Jessie Loftis and Emily Loftis; two great grandchildren Cade and Kayleigh; sister, Ella (Harold) Loftis of Cookeville; and brother, Frank and sister-in-law, Cheryl Newberry of Friendsville, TN. Mrs. Loftis family will receive friends Monday at from 4 pm until 8 pm and Tuesday from 10 am until service time at Hermitage Funeral Home
