Funeral Services for Pastor Ottis Ramsey, age 84, of Cookeville, will be held Monday, May 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Judd Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday from Noon until time of the service. Pastor Ramsey passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home and under the care of Hospice. He was born January 26, 1929 in Putnam County TN to the late Elizabeth Smith Ramsey. Ottis is a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. Pastor Ramsey was a long time pastor and missionary pastoring churches in Dayton OH, Logger TN, Oliver Springs TN, Chillicothe OH and Cookeville. He also was instrumental in starting churches in Havana, Cuba; Zimbabwe, Africa and in Russia. Bro. Ramsey also was an evangelist holding many tent revivals both in the U.S. and overseas. Pastor Ramsey is now in the presence of the Lord wearing his Crown of Life. He will be greatly missed but not soon forgotten. Bro. Ramsey is survived by his wife of sixty-one years; Freda M. Ramsey, three sons; Eddie Ramsey and wife Diane of Brookeville OH, Pastor Joseph Ramsey and wife Tanya of Cookeville and Jack Ramsey and wife Patty of KY. In addition Pastor Ramsey is survived by eight grandchildren; Kim Whiteaker, Adam Ramsey, Ryan Ramsey, Kiel Ramsey, Zach Ramsey, Victoria Ramsey, Freda K. Ramsey and Heather Warnock. In addition to his mother, Bro. Ramsey was preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters; Mary C. Kirkendall, Jack Ramsey, Vira Ray, Louise Davenport, Cleta Martin, and Bonnie Sevein. Pastor Joseph M. Ramsey will officiate the services. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Deliverance Revival Church of Cookeville, which was founded by Pastor Ottis Ramsey.
