Odell Mitchell

Graveside Memorial Services for Easter Odell Bowman Mitchell, age 87 of Cookeville will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the graveside. Mrs. Mitchell died peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Bethesda Health Care Center of Cookeville. She was born April 12, 1925 in Jackson County TN to the late Elvis Lee Bowman and Martha (Mattie) Lou Scantland Bowman. Mrs. Odell was married to Archie Ray Mitchell on March 9, 1946 in Cookeville. She retired from Delman’s in 1963 where she had been employed as a machinist. Mrs. Mitchell spent all her life in Tennessee except for seven years when she and her family lived in Detroit MI. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her daughters, Judy Diane Mitchell Alspach of Cumming GA and Sandra Gail Mitchell Carter (husband Jackie Ray) of Memphis TN. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Christopher Mitchell Alspach (Erica) of Calgary, Canada and Rachel Diane Carter Moore of Memphis, as well as one great granddaughter, Shania Rae Carter Moore of Memphis. In addition to her husband Archie, who passed away in 1995, and her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her siblings: Ethel Mai Bowman, Bethel Oliver Bowman, Bassel Edward Bowman, Estelle Ila Bowman Madewell, James Vollie Bowman, Vester Ray Bowman and Edith Pauline Bowman.
