Norma Christine Jordan Mayberry

A graveside service for Mrs. Norma "Christine" Jordan Mayberry, age 97 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Clarence Deloach will officiate.

Her family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Dyer chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mayberry died Friday May 19, 2023 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County.

She was born December 25, 1925 in Harlan , KY to the late David and Leona Turner Couch. She attended school in Kentucky and moved to Cookeville in 1968. She and her late husband Milton Jordan attended Willow Ave Church of Christ in Cookeville until 1993. During these years, she was employed as a seamstress with CM Clothing in Cookeville. She returned to Kentucky for several years before returning to Cookeville in 2015.

Mrs. Christine was a loving and generous lady who truly walked with the Lord. She enjoyed cooking for her family and giving them lots of love and affection. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, of over 30 years, Milton Jordan; second husband, of 23 years, Dorn A. Mayberry; a son, Harold Edward Hatfield, Jr.; an infant granddaughter, Melanie Aliza Latimer; and by five brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by daughters, Patricia Bilbrey, of Cookeville and Rachel (Sean) Latimer, of Clarksville, TN; six grandchildren, James (Nikki) Sliger, Tom (Nancy) Sliger, Matthew (Jaclyn) Sliger, Boone (Brandi) Sliger; Amanda McWilliams and Jonathan (Stephanie) Latimer; eight great grandchildren; and three sisters, Sophia Walker, Sue Phelps and Geneva Mae Hamblin.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
