A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Nell (Maxwell) Williams age 93 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, December 6, at 2 pm from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Samuel Maxwell Cemetery (North). Rev. Gary Norton and Rev. Tommy Benson will officiate. Mrs. Williams family will receive friends Saturday from 5 pm until 8 pm and Sunday from 1 until service time. Mrs. Williams went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on December 4, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 9, 1921 in the Lilly's Chapel Community of Putnam County to the late David "Jerd" and Tina Cooper Maxwell. She was a life-long and faithful member of Lilly's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Baxter. She was a full time mother, homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, gardening and spending time with family In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James "Berch" Williams; five brothers, Vestal, Walter, Charlie, Clarence, and Lillard Maxwell; and six sisters, Linnie Maxwell, Mattie Clayton, Winnie Whiteaker, Genia Whittaker, Ruby Moss, and Lorene Maxwell. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Ernest Ashburn of Loudon, Sharon and Eddie Watts of Baxter, and Marcia and Russ King of Knoxville, four grandchildren, Kevin Ashburn and wife Sarah. Kara Fowler and husband Joel, Anna King and Jonathan King; five great-grandchildren, Brittney Case, Cooper Fowler, Caroline Ashburn, Isabelle Ashburn, Grant Jester and Ava Fowler; two sisters-in-law, Jean Maxwell of Baxter and JoAnna Williams of Morrison; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Williams family extends a special thanks to caregivers Tammy Perry, Ryan Maxwell, Judy Lack and Avalon Hospice. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
