Nell Billingsley Johnson

On February 15, 2025, Nell Billingsley Johnson passed away at her home in Clarksville, TN, surrounded by her loving family while under the care of AseraCare Hospice at the age of 88. Nell was known by her family as Nina and loved her role of mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She took pleasure in traveling and spoiling her family.

On September 10, 1936, Maggie and Leo Billingsley brought this beautiful brown eyed girl into the world. She met the love of her life, Billy Johnson, at Jackson County High School, and they were married on September 6, 1957. They were happily married for 68 years. They were active members of the church of Christ as long as she was able to attend in person. They were members at Gainesboro Church of Christ, Madison Church of Christ, Goodlettsville Church of Christ, and most recently Hilldale Church of Christ when they moved to Clarksville to be closer to their family.

Nell Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Maggie Billingsley, and her brother David Billingsley. She is survived by her husband, Billy Johnson, daughter, Angela (Jim) Brown, and two granddaughters, Amanda (Jonathan) Binkley and Mollie (Kyle) Cochrane. Nell was the proud great-grandmother of five boys who brought her great joy: Jonah Binkley, Cale Cochrane, Noah Binkley, Hudson Cochrane, and Hawkins Cochrane. Three sisters and one brother also survive her: Mai (Herb) Smith, Ruth Hale, Patricia Spivey, and Don (Sylvia) Billingsley, along with her sister-in-law Janie Billingsley, her Aunt Juanita Billingsley Gross, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to our two caregivers – Chris Brown and Christy Clark who took such good care of Nina. They both loved her and kept her able to stay in her home which was her wish.

Visitation on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home (Goodlettsville, TN 37072). Service to follow at 2:00 pm. 

Following the funeral service, burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
