Nedra Bralley

A memorial service for Nedra Murlene (Sykes) Bralley, 69 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, November 27, at 3 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Her son, Elder Stephen Bralley will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Bralley died Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born October 10, 1947, in Granite City, Illinois. Nedra graduated from Granite City High School in 1965. She was a proud non-conformist, willing to champion a worthy cause even if it meant losing a fight, "because it was the right thing to do!" She delighted in poking at the status quo despite an outwardly quiet demeanor. Her tenacious spirit came into fullness during her husband's long fight with cancer and then her own. She watched over her family with love, determination and grit. She was passionate in serving the local community through "Bags of Love" as well. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hirotaka "Bobby" Bralley; mother, Virginia (Sumpter), Step-father; Paul Tucker, Step-brother; Dean Lee. She is survived by her father; Gilbert and Step-Mother; Edith Sykes of Collinsville, Ill; son, Stephen Bralley and wife Tina of Nashville; daughter, Kinue "Chrissy" Brunton and husband Tom of Hampton, Va.; grandchildren, Alexander and Katherine Bralley; niece, Stephanie Brown and nephew, Austin Bralley of Radcliff, Ky.; and by her beloved pets.
