A Celebration of Life of Nancy Clark Taliferro Owen, age 74, of Cookeville, and formerly of Sun City West, Arizona, will be at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 8th at Heritage Pointe Senior Living, 1030 S. Maple. Cookeville. Mrs. Owen passed away Wednesday morning, May 23, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Nancy was born in Davenport, Iowa on April 3, 1944, the only child of the late Paul Clark and the late Marjorie Hostetler Clark Taliferro. Nancy was 17 when adopted by the late W.R. Taliferro of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. She graduated from Transylvania College in KY. She was married for 35 years to the late Dr. Edwin Owen, who preceded her in death in 2012. She & Edwin lived in New York City, Connecticut, Sun City West, Phoenix and the Caribbean island of Grenada. Nancy's husband, Dr. Owen, moved his dental practice to Grenada where he was only dentist in that area of the Caribbean. While living on Grenada, she and Edwin were formally presented to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip when the Queen visited the island. The couple traveled throughout the world. Nancy worked as an event planner for Seagrams, a real estate agent, a sales rep for Longaberger Baskets, and owner/operator of a needlepoint shop. Nancy and Edwin attended the Synagogue in Sedona, AZ and were especially fond of Rabbi Alicia Magal. In Arizona, Nancy & Edwin had 4 Schnauzers, which were like their children. She is survived by many cousins in the Cookeville area: Kay & Mike Detwiler, Susan Detwiler Dalton & Larry Suggs, Michael Jr. & Shawn Detwiler, Mary Katherine Detwiler, Levi Detwiler, and Abigail Dalton all of Cookeville. Also cousins Karen & Robert Brown and Mike Brown of Walling, TN, Karlyn & Jake Reel and Jacob Brown of Knoxville, TN, Kelsey & Drew Hawkins of Jackson, TN, Daniel Watson of Blacksburg, VA and Carol & Tom Attig of Batavia, IL She is also survived by her two step-sons, Andrew Owen and Kobi Conaway of San Francisco, CA, and step-son, John and Cindy Owen of Pennsylvania. In March 2017, cousins Kay Detwiler & Susan Dalton brought Nancy to Cookeville to be near family and to live at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. Special thanks to all the staff and residents at Heritage Pointe Senior Living for becoming her extended family in her last year of life.
