Mrs. Susan Scott Cates Pannell

Susan Scott Cates Pannell (“Scotty”), 66, died on Saturday, October 10th, 2015 in Dowelltown, TN. Scotty was born on October 13th, 1948 in Atlanta, GA to Alvin and Virginia Cates. Scotty is a graduate of the Westminster Schools, Pine Manor College and Georgia State University. Scotty was the mother of two daughters, Lyle and Sarah. Scotty was a Master Gardener, avid hiker, book lover and active volunteer in her church, community and in various non-profits. Scotty will be best remembered as a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend. Scotty is survived by her two daughters, Sarah Pannell and Lyle Harvey (Sam), granddaughter, Alma-Rose Harvey, and her sister, Virgina Mitchell (Ed). The family wishes to especially thank Oliver Flowers, Matilda Earl, the Circle of Care team and Avalon Hospice for their compassionate care during her illness. Funeral services will be held at the Cathedral of St. Phillips in Atlanta on Monday, October 19th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Scotty’s name to the charity of your choice.
