Mrs. Frances Bumbalough

Mrs. Frances Reeser Bumbalough, age 85, of Cookeville, passed away Monday May 18, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born June 24, 1934 in Manchester, TN to the late Porter and Stella Wright Reeser. Frances earned her bachelor's degree in home economics from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TTU). She pursued a career as a social worker for the state of Tennessee. For over 40 years, she worked to protect and provide for children in need in the Upper Cumberland Region. She also served on the Foster Review Board for many years. Frances was member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. She traveled to Nicaragua several times to serve in mission work. She was active with Healing Hands an organization that provided MAGI boxes and other necessities to children in different countries. She was also an active supporter of the Red Cross. Frances was an avid bowler for many years. She traveled to various bowling events across the nation, where she met many life long friends. She loved to travel around the United States, and in Mexico. She enjoyed many hobbies, but her greatest one was spending time with her granddaughter, Sarah. Frances is survived by her son, Tim (Charlene) Bumbalough of Cookeville; granddaughter, Sarah Emily Bumbalough and fiance Zach Price of Sparta; step-grandsons, Ryan (Samantha) Heady of Sparta, Cameron (Tara) Heady of Sparta; step-great-grandchildren, Allie, Abby, Piper, Tenley, and Reese Heady; son-by-choice, Jim (Tammy) Cobb of Cookeville; and special caregiver, Gail Hayslett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylon Presley; and sister, Eleen Reeser Harkins. Friends are invited to come by Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Friday May 22 from 9 - 11 am. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Bro. Buddy Johnson officiating. Due to Covid-19 precautions social distance measures will be observed. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery.
