Mr. Riley Edward Brewington

Funeral Services for Mr. Riley Edward Brewington, age 83, of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the West Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, December 12, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. Riley passed away Thursday morning at NHC Health Care. He was born February 19, 1932 in the Board Valley area of White County to the late Lonnie E. Brewington and Lula Mae Brewington. Mr. Brewington loved gardening and being outdoors. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Riley was a caring, compassionate man and often a humorous fellow .Those who knew him has known him to be a prankster. He loved telling jokes and if he thought he could pull a good one on you he would. Riley was a co-owner of B&B Grill/Poolroom for 26 years then spent years working for Gaw Produce. He was a huge supporter of Red Cross, Cookeville Cavalier’s, & the Babe Ruth League. Riley was a devoted Atlanta Braves and Dallas Cowboys fan. Riley was a long time member of the Samaria Church of Christ & also proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. Survivors include his wife of 58 years; Glenda Brewington, one daughter; Sherry (husband Charlie) Hardee of Cookeville, one son; Stuart Lee Brewington of Cookeville. In addition he is survived by five sisters, Byrda (husband Johnnie) Steward Of Elkton Maryland, Tootsie (Ralph) Dunn of Cookeville, Eulene (husband Merle) Jackson of Cookeville, Willene (husband Harold) of Cookeville, and Judy Hoskins of Cookeville; brothers, J.D. (wife Hazel) Brewington of Cookeville and Jimmy (wife Susan) Brewington of Houston, Texas, Grandchildren, Tavia Stevens, Tamra (Corey) Nichols, Tessa Benefield, Andrew Howard and a special adopted grandchild, Luciana Holz, great grandchildren, Nash Nichols, Wes Hardee Stevens and special adopted great grandchildren, Edu & Eduardo Honesko. Riley is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a large host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Dimple Coffey and infant sister, Dorothy Jewell Brewington. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Bro. David Eldridge will be conducting the services.
