Mr. Marvin L. Siegersma

Marvin L. Siegersma, age 87, a resident of Cookeville, TN. formerly of Grand Forks, ND, and Bemidji, MN, went to be with his Lord on May 30, 2015. He was born on November 2, 1927 in Seney, IA, and moved to Dalbo, MN as a young child where he was raised by his uncle and aunt, Richard and Grace Palm. He joined the Navy at 17 and served for 6 years, during which time he met his wife Clarize (Shelquist), and they were wed in 1952. After deciding to serve again, but from dry land, he joined the Air Force serving 14 years with station assignments in Greece, Alaska, and several other U.S. states. After proudly serving his country for 20+ years, Marvin retired to Grand Forks, ND. After a post-military career in sales, Marvin and Clarize followed their passion enjoying 11 years as full time RV’ers and traveling to 49 states. Marvin passed his love of hunting and fishing to both his sons, and later on fell in love with the game of golf. Marvin also loved to walk and read. After their travels, Marvin and Clarize settled in Cookeville, TN to be near their daughter, Valerie. Marvin was also a volunteer for Mended Hearts, Chapter 127, of Cookeville, TN for several years. Marvin is survived by one brother, Ronald Siegersma; two sons, Terry (Jeanne) Siegersma and Scott (Jennifer) Siegersma and one daughter, Valerie Nash; grandchildren, Andrea (Colin) Kuechle, Kathryn (Robert) Simon, Kyle Nash, Abbigail, Logan, Grant; great-grandchildren, Parker See, Thayer Simon, and baby Kuechle, due in November. In addition to his beloved wife of 61 years, he was also preceded by two brothers, Merle and George Siegersma Jr. Marvin will be buried next to his wife at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. He will be missed by many family, friends and people whose lives he touched. Memorial donations may be sent to Mended Hearts, Chapter 127, 228 W. 4th St., Suite 100, Cookeville, TN 38501 Memorial service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 2:30pm at the Heavenly Host Lutheran Church.
