Mr. John Rice Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Rice Jr., age 88, of Madison TN and formerly of Baxter, will be Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 24, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday from Noon until time of the service. Burial will be in the Nash Cemetery. Mr. Rice passed away Thursday morning, July 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Madison TN. John was born November 10, 1926 in Baxter TN to the late John Philmore Rice and Minnie May Putty Rice. He was a retired auto technician and mechanic working most recently at Hanson Chrysler in the Nashville area. Mr. Rice loved restoring old cars, fishing, boating and most of all relaxing in his chair while eating and watching TV. John is survived by four children; Linda Caroline Baker Rice of Nashville, Stella Kirkland of Madison TN, Patricia Ann Rice Baltz (husband William) of Inglewood TN, and Eddie Mansfield Rice of Madison as well as three grandchildren; Michelle Brassell (husband Ronald) and Ronnie Kirkland (wife Necole) both of Nashville and John Kirkland (wife Jackie) of Madisonville TN. Mr. Rice also leaves behind fifteen great-grandchildren; Kirsten Hawkins, Landon Hawkins, Reecey Brassell, Karma Brassell, Keeley Brassell, Brandon Kirkland, Dallas Cunningham, Harlie Kirkland, John Michael Kirkland, Jesse Kirkland, Michael Kirkland, Tyler Kirkland, Dalton and Dakota Kirkland and Oland Kirkland, as well and many friends and extended family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his wife; Treva Lorene Jones Rice, six brothers; Dewey, Claude, Sloan Mance, Sam, Warren, and Hugh Rice and two sisters; Stella Violet Rice and Inez Malone. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Bro. Gary West will be conducting the services.
