Mr. John Edward Tregillus

November 23, 1951 — January 27, 2016

John Edward Tregillus, age of Cookeville passed away on January 27,2016 at the Upper Cumberland Hospice House in Cookeville Tennessee. He was born on November 23, 1951, in Aurora, Illinois, to William and Inez (Hibbard) Tregillus. John spent his early years in Oswego, Illinois, and enjoyed riding his bike with his friend, Corey Cather, to the Oswego Drag Strip to watch all the excitement. The family left Oswego in 1962 moving to Dunedin, Florida, where he enjoyed motor biking, fishing and swimming in the local pond. In 1968 the family moved to Cookeville, Tennessee, where he graduated from Central High School in l969. He remained in Cookeville enjoying, fishing, long drives on the roads less traveled, collecting and selling old records, listening to music, motorcycle trips, playing his guitar and the company of his friends. He was an active member of the West Cookeville congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He served as an elder since his appointment in 2008. He enjoyed teaching and shepherding the congregation. He also greatly enjoyed talking about the Bible with others. And he showed this by having a regular share in the house to house ministry. He is survived by his sisters, Lucinda Schliwa, Plano, Illinois; Inez Wheeler (Jeff), Payson, Arizona; and Sandra Coffelt (Ralph), Jasper, Tennessee; sister-in-law Gina Tregillus of Clearwater Florida; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bill Tregillus and brother-in-law, Carl Schliwa. The family would like to thank every one at the Upper Cumberland Hospice House for all their kindness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 30th at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 3850 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of services at the Kingdom Hall. Benjamin Garrett will officiate the services.
