Earl Baker, 87, of Cookeville TN, peacefully departed from this earthly life at his home on February 27, 2016. He proudly served his country as Seaman Second Class during World War II in the US Navy. He was awarded the Victory World War II medal. Earl retired from the trucking industry, where he was employed for many years as an over the road truck driver. He was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ. Earl was born July 15th, 1928 in Strange Creek, W. VA. to Agnes and Emmett Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents Lydia Agnes (Hoover) and Emmett Baker of Strange Creek, West VA.; brothers Edmund and Fred Baker of Macon GA. and sister Adelaide Coen of Strange Creek, W. VA. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Juanita Sue (Palmer) Baker, sons; Doug (Linda) Baker of Cordova, TN and Earl Baker Jr. & Debbie Jackson of Baxter TN., 5 grandchildren – Chris (Nancie) Baker, Brittany (John) Phillips, Andy (Shandrea) Baker, Ashley (Barry) Sims, and Lindsey Baker, 13 great grandchildren – Christine, Kenzie, Madison, Bentley and Aaron Baker, Addie and Tristen Williams, Emlynn Phillips, Mason, Aden and Colten Sims, Kasie and Codie Edgell, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday, February 29, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the funeral home with Brother Clarence Deloach and Brother Jeremiah Tatum officiating. Graveside will follow the Funeral Service in the Palmer Cemetery, Silver Point, TN. Arrangements are by Dyer Funeral Home, Cookeville TN.
