Funeral services for Morris Howard Williams, 69, of El Paso, Texas and formerly of Monterey, will be held on Thursday September 5, at 11:00 a.m. (MDT) at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home in El Paso. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen. Morris died Thursday morning August 29, 2013 at his home in El Paso after a brief illness. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 20, 1944 to Leonard Cardine and Nettie Lee Bohannon Williams. Morris was raised in Monterey and was a l962 graduate of Monterey High School. Following graduation he served his country in the United States Air Force. He earned degrees from Chattanooga Tech, New Mexico State University, and University of Phoenix. Prior to joining University of Phoenix, Morris worked at Tennessee Valley Authority and Plains Electric. Morris was the Faculty Services Manager for the University of Phoenix (Santa Theresa Campus). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lester Williams; a nephew, Luke Williams; and an infant brother. His family includes his wife Margit Merklein Williams, two sons and daughters-in-law Morris Howard and Winona Williams Jr. of Grants, New Mexico; Timothy and Teri Williams of Roswell, New Mexico; granddaughter, Angel Williams; and 3 great grandchildren; 4 step-children; 7 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by Peggy Williams, the mother of his children, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother Meredith (Gail) Williams; two sisters and brothers-in-law Drucilla (George) Ray, and Connie (Roger) Nichols all of Monterey, Tenn. Pastor Ben Hodge will officiate at the services.
