Modenia Frances Harris

Funeral Services for Mrs. Modenia Frances Harris, age 89, of Cookeville, will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday from noon until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Boiling Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Harris passed peacefully on Sunday evening, May 25, 2014 at her home and surrounded by her family. Modenia was born October 18, 1924 in Putnam County TN to the late Chester Massa and Amanda Bussell Massa. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed traveling and working in her church, Gentry’s Chapel Freewill Baptist. Modenia is survived by five children; Edd Harris of Baxter, Earl (Brenda) Harris, Dannie Harris, David (Debbie) Harris, and Vickie (Carl) Brown all of Cookeville. She is also survived by two sisters; Juanita Gardner and Willodene (Jimmy) Jackson both of Indianapolis IN, and one brother, Willie C. (Lynda) Massa of Midlothian VA. In addition Mrs. Harris is survived by six grandchildren; Amy Cogdell, Annette (Tommy) Waller, Kristie (David) Walker, Jacob (Christina) Brown, Micah (Thya) Harris, and Chad (Rachel) Brown as well as sixteen great- grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Modenia was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Sherman Harris, a daughter; Margaret Holman, a son; Lonnie Harris; a brother Alfred D. Massa, two grandchildren; Tim Harris and Jeffery E. Harris, and a daughter-in-law, Betty Harris. Pallbearers will be Jacob Brown, Chad Brown, Tommy Waller, David Walker, Dow Harris, Doug Harris, and Richard Fields. Bro. Derek Wilson and Bro. Harold Walker will officiate the services.
