Mitzi Hanson

Gathering for friends and family of Mitzi Ann Hanson will be from 1 - 4 p.m Sunday November 3 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Mitzi passed away Thursday October 31, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. She was born July 23, 1960 in Putnam County, TN to Solon Michael Martin and Berchie Thelma Bruce Carter. Mitzi was retired educator with the Putnam County School Board. She taught at Jere Whitson Elementary School for over 24 years and was beloved teacher and respected colleague. She is survived by her brother, Mike Martin (wife, Mary); niece, Marisa Julian (husband, Stacy); great niece, Shelby Clement, all of Cookeville; uncle, Joe Bruce of Maryville, TN; three cousins, Diane Wheeler of Cookeville, Leann Hicks and Mary Jo Willocks both of Maryville; a special friend since childhood, Betty Gilreath; and her godsons, Willy and Silas Gilreath. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Christopher Maynard. Memorial contributions may be made to Jere Whitson Elementary School Library, 178 E.
