Mitch Thomas

DYER CHAPEL-Mitchell Glenn Thomas, a lifelong resident of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday March 21, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 5, 1956, to Carlyn and Clara Ashburn Thomas, who preceded him in death.

Mitch graduated from Upperman High School in 1974 and went on to have a dedicated career both as an employee of the Putnam County property assessor's office and later at Tutco in Cookeville, where he retired in 2023. He took great joy in attending and supporting local events, including the Fall Fun Fest and the spirited Tennessee Tech sports events.

His commitment to his faith was evident through his role as a deacon and member of Ozion Freewill Baptist Church. Mitch's dedication to his work and community exemplified the values that he held dear throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Abigail Thomas; his brother, Greg Thomas and his wife Sandra; two nephews, Jared and Colin Thomas; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Mitch is also survived by his special friend, Rosalind Sewell.

A funeral service to honor Mitch will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday March 26 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Corey Price will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Tuesday 5 - 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mitch will be laid to rest at Dobbs Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Jared Thomas, Colin Thomas, Jeff Goff, Mike Luke, Milt Ashburn, Milton Thomas, JP Ledbetter, and Aaron Barlas. Honorary Pallbearer is Greg Thomas.
