Funeral services for Mitchell Davis Judd, 87 of Cookeville will be Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 11 A.M. from Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Zion Church of Christ Cemetery in Jackson County. Bro. Buddy Johnson and Bro. John Mason will officiate. Mr. Judd died Friday evening, December 30, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1924 in Jackson County to the late Perry Davis and Rhoda Dellavine Gentry Judd. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a member and Past Post Commander of Cookeville American Legion Post 46. He earned his BS Degree in Mathematics from of Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (Tennessee Tech University) in 1947. He was a retired Field Representative with Tennessee Department of Employment Security and was also Real Estate Developer with M.N. Hargrove Realty & Auction Co. Following his retirement he became active in several Genealogical Societies and was well-known throughout the Upper Cumberland for his knowledge of history. He helped many families track their heritage and was instrumental in writing the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ History Book. He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ where he served many years as a Deacon. He was a member and Past Commander of Cookeville American Legion Post 46 and a long-time member of the Cookeville Civitan Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister Dimple Lee Judd Mayberry; two brothers, William Radford Judd and Nathan Simon Judd; step-son-in-law Jamie Cleve Blevins; and grandson Jamie Scott Blevins. Survivors include wife of 60 years Anna Baldwin Judd (whom he married October 26, 1952 in Ringgold, GA); two daughters & sons-in-law Jeannie and Ron Wagner of Bethlehem, PA, Kay and Michael Corbett of Columbia, S.C.; step-daughter Ann Jordan Blevins of Loudon, Tn. two grandchildren, Mallory Elizabeth Corbett and Mitchell William Corbett; and a great-granddaughter, April D. Blevins. Active Pallbearers will be Ron Wagner, Michael Corbett, Mike Wallace, Buddy Qualls, Roy Tudor and Dewey Thrasher. Memorial Contributions may be made to Zion Church of Christ Cemetery Fund %Mike Smith 831 Zion Road or Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ, 521 South Jefferson Avenue both of Cookeville, TN 38501. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
